April Club Meeting

Come on out to roam the woods with us for our first mushroom walk of the season. This is always such a beautiful and exciting time to be outside! The meeting will start with a few words/updates. We will go explore the woods and collect specimens before bringing them back for observation. We will conclude with a short table talk to discuss the findings and allow time at the end for socializing and catching up. All levels of experience, knowledge and age are welcome! We host these walks rain or shine. Please come prepared for the elements and bring yourself a snack and some water. Bathrooms are available at the main building.

Mushroom Mania

Mushroom Melodies
Date: April 19
Time: 7pm Campout event, camping optional
Location: Scottsville
Have you ever wanted to sit around a campfire and sing mushroom songs all night with your mushroom friends? You’re not alone! We are pleased to announce the second annual “Mushroom Melodies,” camp-out and sing-a-long! Hosted by Lina and Isaac in the Scottsville, VA area (address information will be provided to those who sign up via E-mail). This will be a kid friendly evening around a campfire, sharing mushroom-themed songs, s’mores, and good company. Mycelium minstrels will then be welcome to pitch a tent and spend the night. The event is free but we will be capping the event at 15 people so we aren’t overwhelming our hosts. Musical instruments and children are welcome (we want this to be suitable for kids so definitely make decisions accordingly) but pets will unfortunately have to stay home this time. Supplies for s’mores will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring food for yourself (or even better, to share)!
2025 Brms Morel Walk

Non-Members: $15/single and $25/group
This will be our 7th annual morel walk! I know, can you believe it? To date, we have never led a walk without have multiple sightings of morels. Since we will be on a very special private property, we always offer our finds to the property owners first. Then we give first priority to anyone who has never tasted a morel before dividing the bounty, however big or small. We make sure to communicate this so that no one comes expecting to leave with baskets overflowing.
This event is specifically going to focus on morel mushrooms and their lookalikes. We will begin by briefly providing information on the various species encountered in VA as well as a rundown of the types of habitats you want to look for when chasing these fun creatures throughout the woods. Then we will go on a walk into a known fruiting location so that everybody gets a chance to stumble on them. This is a GREAT walk to attend if you have never seen or been successful finding morels! But really its just a very fun time watching the 2025 season really start to come alive.
This has been our most highly attended and quickest to sell out event. So over the years we have decided to limit signups to just 30 for this one.
If you are a club member, you will receive a link in your email very soon to the Club Member Form which will not require you to pay any money. In addition, club members always get first access, so there is a chance all tickets will be taken before this opens to non-members.
